This is my favorite example today of email marketing
There is a local company who sells fruits.
Do you know what their email marketing is?
You sign up on their email list – and they email you when fruit is in season.
- If you want to buy some, you place an order.
- If you don’t, they will email you again in 3-6 months when their next fruit is in season.
That’s it.
They don’t provide any content, or training, or even an unsubscribe button. In order to sign up to their list – you fill out a form, and I am pretty sure someone manually adds you to a comma separated email list in a notepad file
Does email marketing have to be complicated? Do you have to be a masterful copywriter? Do you need fancy graphics and a shopping cart?
NO.
You just need a product, and a willingness to ask people to purchase it.
=)
Now granted, there are problems. This is not a smooth sign up process. The email is not optimized. The lack of a unsubscribe link and lack of analytics means you cannot optimize this in the long run
BUT…They are making sales with it today – and that’s more than most local businesses are doing, so for that I say nice work.
